SANParks has prepared a bumper programme in the Garden Route National Park for this year’s SA National Parks Week.
Between the 18th and 22nd of September, SA citizens will be granted free entry to all of SANParks’ national reserves. Furthermore, the agency has put together special activities for young and old alike.
The festivities will be welcomed by Knysna locals in particular, who are keen to rebuild the town’s tourism industry after the recent fires.
In the Garden Route, the week will start off with a ‘Spring Forest Walk’ along two different trails in the Diepwalle section outside Knysna. “There are also planned daily excursions by the People & Conservation Officers (P&Cs) in each section of the Park- guided mine tours during the week (Goudveld), guided forest and fynbos excursions (Knysna), guided hikes and others,” adds SANParks.
There will also be a ‘Sunset Serenade’ at Wilderness’ Ebb & Flow rest camp, as well as sporting activities and a traditional dance competition in Storms River.
Don’t forget to bring your SA ID document along! You’ll need it to qualify for free entry.
