SANParks says travellers planning on visiting the Kruger National Park over Easter should plan ahead and book in advance.
Day visitors will be given the opportunity to choose from one of three arrival time slots: 06:00 – 08:00, 08:00 – 10:00, and 10:00 onwards.
A quota system will be in place for day visitors, meaning that only a select few have access to the park for the day, ensuring that it doesn’t get too overcrowded.
“For busy periods such as the Easter Holidays, we aim to better manage the volumes that we expect, as well as our visitors’ expectations,” says SANParks Acting Head of Communications, William Mabasa.
“The three different time slots are aimed at improving the spread of vehicles and, as far as possible prevent unnecessary waiting periods at gates,” he adds.
If visitors miss their allotted time slots, says SANParks, they will forfeit their booking and will have to wait in line.
While booking day visits is possible at any point in the year, it’s especially encouraged during peak periods, especially Easter.
