Catering for up to 70 000 passengers a day, the steel-and-glass T5 is a long-awaited breath of fresh air at the notoriously over-crowded Heathrow terminals. Designed by the Richard Rodgers Partnership, the terminal building is the largest single-span roof in the United Kingdom, with its floor-to-ceiling windows flooding the passenger waiting areas with natural light.
Five times the size of nearby Terminal 4, T5 covers an area equivalent to 50 football pitches over its five floors! Two of these ‘football pitches’ alone are dedicated to premium class lounges!
Take a wander through the next-generation terminal, and keep an eye out for a great ‘T5 guru’ competition coming in early 2009! You can also find out more at www.terminal5.ba.com.
