Visa Requirements

what about NZ
"); document.write("that's a first world country!. Ian"); document.write("
No, but

what goes around comes around

Anybody have any info for me?. Mo"); document.write("
Umm, what the...
"); document.write("#### are you on about Neil? How is it hard to come to SA? You fly, arrive, and you are in...moron.
And TB, Singapore, Honkers, NZ, Thailand, Malaysia ... some of the most ideal holiday destinations on the planet...you are an even bigger moron...I suppose you think Singapore is 3rd world as well!
Honestly, what a pack of tw#ts.. Dean"); document.write("
@ Dean
"); document.write("Who are you calling morons? Would you say that if you were face to face with these people? It's random outbursts from people like you that ruin bulletin boards for everone else. Your opinion is not the only one that counts!. Mister T"); document.write("
Dean the git
"); document.write("No Dean, you're the git. If the only reason you travel is to lie on a beach and eat coconuts, then, yes, the above list is great. If however, your IQ is higher than 10, you may want to visit places like, hmm, lets see, the USA, Canada, Australia, Britain, France, Germany, Austria, the old USSR or any of its neighbours, etc. Oh, hang, you need a visa. You go Dean, go live it up in Swaziland.... Bob"); document.write("
Seychelles

Visa Requirements
"); document.write("Actually out of the 17 countries listed, 12 are top destinations the British visit including Kenya, Zambia so although the list is not exhaustive, it is actually quite a damn good list. Britains are only staying at home this summer because we have been promised more 'heat' as the recent heatwave has shown and also because they can't even afford to go to Europe or the E.U. countries as it is known, due to the credit crunch and the pound/euro exchange. We may earn pounds in Britain which seems a fabulous amount of money but I can guarantee you that pound for pound is a rather expensive enterprise and it is very expensive to live in the U.K. where there is not much choice of anything. South Africa is paradise there is no doubt about that and the British can vouch for that too!!!!. Stormy"); document.write("
I thought...
"); document.write("I was pretty clear on who I was calling morons. In fact, I mentioned their names.
And as you can see, it was not a random outburst, because here I am again.
And yes, I very much would say that and more if I was face to face with these attitudes.

These are the attitudes of people who forget that under apartheid, there was almost nowhere on the planet where South Africans were welcome, but now whine about the visa situation as if its something that has happened since the end of apartheid.
And Bob, most of the world needs a visa to visit the USA, and all the other Developed nations have their own criteria as well.

It is just a visa, by the way. I dont have to 'live it up' in Swaziland, although its pretty nice there.
I can just get a schengen visa and travel Europe, or whatever.
Its just a visa!

Again, the morons like TB who try to intimate that we are pariahs are just that - and listing places like NZ and Singapore as 'not first world' to boot.. Dean"); document.write("
They forgot
"); document.write("The Republic of Ireland, we don't need a visa to go there and its fantastic, way way better than the UK. Oh and whoever thought that the countries listed are boring or not as interesting as the ones listed....you don't get out much do you? . Carolyn"); document.write("

South Africa visa
"); document.write("Does any of you know why South Africa imposes visa requirements on some EU countries? I am from Lithuania (a part of Schengen zone) and my passport allows me to visit about 130 countries (including USA, Canada, Australia) visa FREE. However South African consulate insist on almost 100 USD fee for a single entry visa. What a nice way to bring tourists to South Africa.. Rolandas"); document.write("
Rolandas - SA Visa
"); document.write("Rolandas - thought that I would try to answer your question for you. Just like the E.U. imposes, insists and charges for South Africans to get a Schengen Visa to travel Europe including your country, so too is it right and correct that S.A. charges for you to enter and travel in the country. It's called immigration and laws governing the countries of the world. Recently, many countries are tightening up on immigration and it is getting more and more difficult for people to freely travel. South Africans can also ask the question of many countries, USA, Canada, Europe and the E.U. etc etc why we need to pay so much money for VISAs to travel to and in their countries- the answer will always be the same 'immigration'. Oh and BTW (by the way) I would check to see that you are certain that you can travel to 130 countries with EU/Schengen passport as that sounds incorrect. As far as I am aware, Schengen Visas/countries only allow you to travel to Schengen countries and that is only some in Europe and the U.K. and maybe 1 or 2 others- as you know not all of Europe belongs to the E.U.

To Carolyn - I have a smile on my face cause u are right, Northern Ireland ROCKS!
Also Walkabout in Wales ROCKS! and thats an australian bar LOL just like Castle Corner ROCKS in London!

Stormy - SA visa
"); document.write("Stormy, Thanks for your input on SA visa. I totally agree that every country decides on their visa policy. But sometimes this is not that simple. Schengen agreement does not allow discretion to individual member countries on visa exemption rules for 3rd countries. For example: Lithuania as a individual Schengen agreement member can not decide on its own whether or not to exempt SA citizens from visa requirements to Lithuania. Lithuania consulates issues only Schengen visas and visa policy is regulated by European Commission, which every year reviews individual country risks and determines if any country should be excluded from/ or included in Shengen visa exemption. For example, EU commission recently decided to impose visas on Bolivia, but granted visa free access to Bahamas and some other countries. Schengen area has no physical borders, so person with Schengen visa can move freely within Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Denmark, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and cross borders without need to even pull over or show passport. Soon it will include Bulgaria and Romania. Ireland and UK are EU members, but they have never implemented Schengen agreement, therefore have their own visa policies. EU citizens are not subject to EU border patrol inspections, have a right of work and indefinite stay in ANY EU country. Therefore all EU citizens while in EU have virtually identical judicial status.
In relation to 130 countries - I maybe slightly wrong - it could be a few more or less. Lots of info is on wikipedia - Lithuanian passport. Now back to my original question on SA visa exemption. South African government exempts some Schengen countries like Belgium, Austria, Greece, etc from visa requirements WITHOUT ANY VISA RECIPROCITY. Now, why would SA is not keen on exempting other low risk countries, or at least allow visa on arrival? I believe many people do not wish to spend an extra 100 USD on top of already expensive trip to South Africa.. Rolandas"); document.write("
country in decline
"); document.write("When you've made 3 seperate visits to the Greek embassy in London on consecutive days arriving on the 3rd day at 11pm at night to be in the queue for 9:30am the next morning and on arrival you are still number 8 in the queue, then you will realise that this list is only a small conveniance for some. Having to apply for a visa for 1st world countries is still degrading, inconveniant and expensive and SA is going backwards in this dept. once again as a result of corruption and greed. Just for the record, the UK's main reason for imposing visas is because of the number of fake SA passports sold on the black market.

Our country is in decline and this is just one more area of proof. . jim"); document.write("
