Arts and Culture Incompetent
"); document.write("It is appalling that Austria feels compelled to fix a South Africa treasure. Are we a COMPLETE banana republic? Budgets are compiled so that housing can be built, roads fixed, children educated and libraries and museums maintained. Art doesn't consume housing money, corruption does, and without art it's pointless building houses anyway because the Barbarians will then be within the gate, and not without.
It's time for us to stop being angry and take some action. How about a class-action compelling Arts and Culture to do the job they're paid for? Heaven knows we have an invincible case. Amongst the scores of blunders, witness the Labia museum where the Count had to sue the government to get his nelected gift back from them (they sold his property too without his permission); witness the state of Cape Town's gem, the City Hall, smashed priceless chandelier, dysfunctional organ and all. Worst of all the oldest South African building, Cape Town Castle, is no longer under the protection of the army and has deteriorated into a shabby embarrassment.

Anyone out there with the legal knowledge on how to mount a class action? Our rights are being eroded by a class of careless clowns destroying our heritage.. FB-H"); document.write("
