After declaring the closing of the Durban route as of 28 October 2012, Air Mauritius has announced that it will re-introduce flights to KwaZulu-Natal for the festive season from 21 December 2012 – 13 January 2013.
Flights will depart Mauritius on Fridays and Sundays at 8.45pm, arriving at 11.05pm. The return flight leaves Durban the same night at 11.55pm, arriving at 5.45am the following day.
“Air Mauritius is delighted to be able to meet the demands of our venerated stakeholders within the Durban market, by offering these limited festive flights on-board our A319 aircraft," says Carla da Silva, Air Mauritius Regional Manager Southern Africa and Latin America.
The festive season flights come on the back of additional frequencies to both Cape Town and Johannesburg.
From 28 October 2012, Air Mauritius will operate 10 weekly flights out of Johannesburg, and offer additional capacity during the peak holiday season. The airline's capacity to Cape Town will also be boosted with three direct return flights to Mauritius per week.
