Low-cost airline 1time has won the 2011 World Travel Award for Africa’s best low cost airline; the third year in a row that the airline has won the category.
Over 213 000 travel industry professionals from 160 countries participated in the voting process for the Awards, including travel agencies, tour and transport companies and tourism organisations.
1time Airline’s CEO, Rodney James attributes the award to the airline’s ongoing high level of performance and its commitment to customer service: "We are honoured to once again receive this prestigious award, which serves as a critical benchmark standard for airlines. The fact that we have won this award for three years running proves that we are on track in terms of our long term commitment to efficiency, innovation and optimised customer service."
Launched in 1993, the World Travel Awards is a prestigious awards ceremony for airlines, which serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.
The Awards have been described by the Wall Street Journal, as the 'Oscars' of travel and tourism.
James concludes that receiving the accolade serves to further motivate 1time to continue providing its customers with value for money.
“Our passengers’ satisfaction is the driving element of our business, and we plan to build on this external recognition by maintaining and improving our own high standards, which will result in even better results and service for our loyal clientele.”
