Low-cost airline 1time could soon be flying to Maputo, after receiving air traffic rights to operate a five-times-per-week service from Johannesburg.

According to SA Tourism Update, commercial manager Desmond O Connor said: "We expect our airfares to be considerably lower than those that are currently being charged on the route, and make it far more affordable for people to fly between South Africa and Mozambique, as 1time becomes the first low fare airline to operate this route."

1tme also recently launched a service to Livingstone, in Zambia, and operates flights to the Indian Ocean island of Zanzibar.
