- I?m flying with my kids regularly — ages five and 12 and think it is parents' sole responsibility to take control of their kids on airplanes. If your kids are disciplined, with respect for others, they will not behave like brats on planes. The problem, however, is parents who
do not want to put in the effort to keep their kids at bay and who do nor respect other people as well. I also hate kids that are allowed to do whatever they want at the detriment of others. So please don?t just get rid of the kids — include their parents in it as well as they are the real culprits in this situation.
Phia - As the saying goes, if dogs are uncontrollable and kids are ill mannered, look at the owners/parents. I agree, allow me my cramped rest please.
A Groenewald - I would certainly support child-free flights!!
Rob - At last somebody who thinks like me. When you travel with 143 people or more like we do, the last thing you need is a noisy kid on board. And I am actually a parent and I have flown with a toddler in nappies and there is no way in hell I would ever have allowed my child to disturb somebody else?s right peace and quiet. And by the way, parents of toddlers, a simple lollipop to suck while ascending or descending sorts out the ear-ache practically immediately and gives them something else to focus on. So yes, let?s start a kids-free airline: the best news this decade yet.
Marilyn - When my kids were travelling I would make sure I kept them awake for the day so that when they got onto the plane they would fall into a dead sleep and wake up when they needed the toilet or wanted to eat, and that would be a good eight-10 hours into the flight. Another thing, why are women or men with children given the window or middle seat in the middle of the plane? They should be given an aisle seat at the back of the plane close to the toilets, so that when dear Johnny/Mary need the toilet they do not have to disturb the whole row.
