A 1Time airlines plane, flying from Johannesburg to Cape Town, was forced to make an emergency landing in Bloemfontein on Thursday with over one 140 passengers onboard.

It is understood a technical fault was to blame for the incident.

?They announced over the intercom was that the one engine had given in because of some oil leak or something that is actually blocking the engine,? said a woman who was on the plane.

1Time CEO Rodney James said another plane was sent to Bloemfontein to ferry the stranded passengers.

?The was an oil filter bypass indication light that came on in the cockpit of the aircraft and the pilot diverted into Bloemfontein which was the nearest airport,? he said.
