South Africa’s very own low-cost carrier, FlySafair, has been crowned the most on-time airline in the world by an airline analytics agency.
OAG’s ‘on-time performance’ index has awarded five-star ratings to three airlines this year, with the Kuwaiti Jazeera Airways and Latvian Air Baltic Corporation joining top-ranked FlySafair as the global winners.
Notably, FlySafair is also the only one of the three that operates as a low-cost airline. The award is well-deserved recognition for the carrier’s efforts in recent years, which have seen it grow into a true SA airline competitor.
The company has become famous for its ludicrously-low-priced flash ticket sales, as well as its no frills, no fuss approach to aviation in a market dominated by Comair and South African Airways.
It’s OTP rating of 95,94% dwarfs the likes of Qatar Airways, Comair and Virgin Atlantic, which all have ratings of three, three and one star respectively.
South Africa’s next carrier on the list is SAA-operated Mango, with an 88,43%, four-star rating.
