Disney has given travellers their first glimpse of the upcoming Star Wars additions to Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida, in the shape of a detailed model on display at the 2017 D23 expo.
According to Bob Chapek, chairman of the company’s parks division, these are the most ambitious ‘lands’ yet, and have already been in the works for a good two years.
“Both Star Wars-inspired lands will transport guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before Wild Space, where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life,” says a blog post by the company.
“Here, guests will find themselves in the middle of the action at two signature attractions.”
The first is an interactive Millennium Falcon mission, and the second is a “climactic” battle between the First Order and the Resistance, the two factions introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Visitors will also be able to interact with their favourite characters while wandering the maze of alien streets, just like at other Disney attractions.
