“During the past 30 years we have always strived to offer true uniqueness and constantly deliver and raise the level of fine service," say owners Barbara and Rupert Jeffries. "Our aim was always to share this incredible natural setting so guests could truly relax and rejuvenate themselves while being pampered by the good things of life.”
Cybele has become quite the icon in the hospitality industry and a firm favourite with guests as it is ideally situated for exploring the magnificent highlights of Mpumalanga, including the Mac Mac Falls, God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Blyde River Canyon and Pilgrim’s Rest. It’s just 40km from the Phabeni Gate by the Kruger National Park and close to many of the leading private game reserves in the Sabi Sands.
The elegant and certainly bespoke accommodation is limited to just 28 guests. The six luxuriously appointed suites have their own climate controlled pools. The cottages have been individually decorated, personalised and neatly walled to ensure exceptional privacy is maintained.
"...the jewel in the crown..."
The fine cuisine at Cybele is created by internationally experienced chefs and has been described as classic French combined with traditional English. Naturally, only the best and the freshest of ingredients are used that are predominantly sourced from the lodge’s organic vegetable garden.
The fine cuisine has been recognised consistently as amongst the best on offer in Southern Africa. For guests serious about health and weight control, Cybele’s Executive Chef has designed a selection of fat free, healthy and appetising menus.
Not forgetting the jewel in the crown, the celebrated Forest Health Spa, one of the only 11 Clarins Gold Status Spa’s in South Africa, where guests can indulge in a full range of treatments at this world-famous forest hideaway.
Highly experienced staff have designed a wide range of programmes and treatments to relax the body and enrich the soul. Products used are Algologie, O.P.I., St. Tropez, Lilian Terry, and Clarins.
There are a variety of 3, 5 and 7 night spa packages available. On entering the Spa you will find yourself in a completely private and peaceful zen courtyard, where lemon trees and mint bushes gently scent the air. The Koi fish gliding effortlessly through the pond water emphasizes the tranquillity and calm of the Spa.
An additional feature of the Spa is a large open-air Jacuzzi bath — which has been fashioned out of natural materials and is enclosed in yet another private-walled courtyard — all surrounded by the natural foliage of the forest.
Cybele has gained a fine reputation over 30 years as a place to utterly relax and energise oneself within its magnificent setting. There are superb walks on the 300-acre property leading down through the lush forest to the river and along to the waterfall. Yet another distinctive difference at Cybele is that the stables are on the property and an experienced groom will take guests out on invigorating horse rides through the forest.
Guests can spend lazy days at the large heated main pool or go on day tours, try an exciting helicopter adventure or a hot air balloon safari, golf, tennis and squash all available nearby.
Guests can indulge in magnificent cocktails at the cocktail bar and enjoy retail therapy at the exclusive gift emporium. For the more energetic and health conscious guests, a state of the art gymnasium is available.
