Qatar Airways is expected to have to wait until mid-2013 to move into its new home in Doha after developers missed a second deadline for the opening of the new international airport last month.

The airline is reported to be seeking legal action over the delays, which will have pushed back operations by a full year even if a mid-year opening is achieved.

Chief Executive Officer, Akbar Al Baker, maintained not only had the setbacks hurt revenues and stifled network and fleet expansion plans, but also inconvenienced passengers.

The new airport will be able to accommodate 28-million passengers from the time it opens and will later increase to 60-million. 20 million use the current facility.
