Singita Game Reserves, the South African based operator of luxury game lodges in Southern and East Africa, has been rated the world’s No.1 Resort Hideaway in the 2007 Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report (USA), claiming its third victory in a trio of definitive international travel polls, for the year.

Described as a 'Safari Superstar', Singita triumphed as the best international hideaway for properties with 50 or less rooms and with its exclusive Singita Lebombo and Sweni lodges in the Kruger National Park, scored a first place ranking amongst the Top 20 International Resorts listed in this esteemed connoisseur’s travel guide.

These two unrivalled Singita lodges are situated in a prime 15 000 hectare concession which boasts the highest concentration of wildlife in the entire park, including the Big Five as well as a wealth of plant and animal species.

The annual Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report is the oldest and most highly regarded survey of its kind conducted amongst its worldwide readership of sophisticated frequent travellers.

Currently in its 26th year, this subscription newsletter carries enormous respectability as an insight into hotels, resorts and properties globally that achieve and maintain the highest possible standards. This latest accolade follows on Singita’s previous success in this travel guide, including its debut as overall No.1 International Resort in 2001.

In addition to topping the worldwide destination preferences of the Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report, Singita was recently voted Best in Africa and the Middle East in the 2007 World’s Best Award, based on reader experiences of Travel + Leisure Magazine (USA).

This is the second consecutive year that Singita scores top marks in the category for its illustrious South African portfolio which includes the lodges in Kruger National Park as well as Singita Boulders and Ebony lodges in the game-rich Sabi Sand Reserve.

Completing the trio of first place rankings for 2007, Singita excelled as double winner in the World’s Top Hotels, Resorts and Spas Survey by the acclaimed Zagat Survey (USA) earlier this year. Outclassing the crème de la crème in luxury accommodation, Singita was singled out as the only African property to be included in this year’s listing and was voted Top Small Hotel (with less than 100 rooms), also clinching the No.1 position for Top Rooms.

"These prestigious achievements reflect Singita’s undisputed international reputation and unique position at the cutting edge of eco-tourism. More importantly, South Africa proved that it is a winning nation and one that is well able to benchmark itself internationally against the very best," said Mark Witney, Singita Game Reserves Group Director.
