Eight British tourists are suing a private game reserve near Cape Town for more than R7-million, after they were injured in an accident during a game drive in 2007.
The vehicle the tourists were travelling in overturned near a pride of lions. The driver was apparently trying to reverse up a hill at the time.
Some of the tourists sustained broken ribs and bruises.
Others were diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder, as result of their proximity to the predators.
Personal injury attorney Tzivi Brivik believes the tourists have a case.
"There are certain representations which any of these game reserves do make to their clients or tourists. In this instance, you would have seen in the paper that they undertook to provide a qualified ranger, and they also had to ensure that the circumstances under which contact is made between the tourist and these wild animals is safe," said Brivik.
