The Franschhoek Wine Valley is hosting their annual Franschhoek Uncorked Festival over the weekend of the 10th and 11th October 2009; the festival offers Franschhoek local wineries, both big and small, the opportunity to showcase their new releases.
Most of the Franschhoek wineries take part in this festival and there are various activities to enjoy which include vineyard tours, barrel-tastings, a micro-brewery tasting, delicious food and wine pairings, art exhibitions, fresh goods markets and a fynbos trail. There are also live music performances which cater for everyone?s tastes.
A passport system will be used again this year to ensure a smooth facilitation of Franschhoek Uncorked 2009. These cards will cost R60.00 each and, once purchased, will permit free wine tasting at participating wineries for the duration of the event. A shuttle service will facilitate tasting and allow for easy, hassle-free transport to various wine farms. Access cards are available at Franschhoek Wine Valley Tourist Association (FWVTA) or at any participating wineries or online www.webtickets.org.za
Children are catered for with kiddie?s activities at various farms, making this event family friendly and open to all.
Participating wineries will be open from 9am ? 5pm, with some evening events.
