Singapore Airlines, in partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Singapore Changi Airport, has launched a new promotion that offers passengers a night's stay in Singapore for just US$1.

Called the "Fabulous Singapore Stopover", the promotional package forms part of the "2009 Reasons to enjoy Singapore" campaign launched recently to stimulate tourism to the country during the economic downturn.

The package is applicable to one-night stopovers or a passenger's first night's stay in Singapore, and is valid until September 30.

Singapore Airlines' passengers can choose to stay at one of six hotels for only US$1 a night, in addition to receiving free airport/hotel transfers and free admission to attractions such as Sentosa Island, Singapore Zoo, Malay Heritage Centre, National Orchid Garden, Peranakan Museum, Singapore River Bumboat Tour and Jurong Bird Park. Passengers have unlimited use of Singapore Airlines' "Hop-On Bus" to visit the attractions.

The package also includes a 50 percent dining discount at designated hotel restaurants and a Singapore Airlines Boarding Pass Privileges card, which offers discounts on shopping, dining, sightseeing tours, tourist attractions and car rental.

At the airport, passengers receive US$10 worth of Changi vouchers, which can be collected from the SIA Singapore Stopover Holiday counters on arrival and used at retail and food outlets at the airport.

"We hope this special US$1 deal will entice travellers to stop over in Singapore and experience the buzz and unique attractions that this country has to offer. For those already thinking of going on a holiday, this attractive package will give them the extra 'push' to travel with Singapore Airlines and stopover in Singapore," said Huang Cheng Eng, Singapore Airlines Executive Vice President for Marketing and The Regions.
