Reports suggest that US airport security will be taking a far more ‘hands-on’ approach to pat-downs in future. Things are about to get a bit too close for comfort.
According to Bloomberg, the five pat-down options available to staff in the past have been replaced by one rather more invasive technique.
One US airport has informed employees that searches will “be more thorough” and “more intimate” than ever before.
The change is a response by the Transportation Security Administration to reports from within its own ranks that weapons are still making it through airport security.
Airline staff will also now be subjected to more frequent screenings, having previously been considered “known crewmembers”.
With regards to just how intimate these pat-downs may get, Bloomberg says that no official policy regarding genitals has been announced as yet.
Late last year, CNN commentator Agela T. Rye wrote about how she was violated by airport security, an occurrence that is reported far too often.
