Travelling abroad is one of the most enriching and gratifying experiences available to us. SASTS working Adventures, in cooperation with various organisations and resorts, is able to provide you with an experience you will never forget! We give you the opportunity of a lifetime ? to work in the USA on a temporary basis. This working holiday is open to ALL 21 to 30 year olds, (whether you're a student or not) who are available for five months from December to April 2002.

We can provide you with a chance to work in a resort atmosphere where having fun and enjoying life to the fullest is the glue that binds you and your co-workers. You are able to experience the thrill and freedom of alpine sports (skiing and snowboarding) and are given the chance to "work where you play".

You will be working with an amazing group of individuals from all over the world, establishing friendships and bonds that will last you a lifetime. Working at a ski resort offers a variety of job possibilities. You might work in housekeeping or room service, as a cashier or hospitality attendant, or maybe hit the slopes as a ski lift operator or work in food and beverage sales. The most important principle to keep in mind is flexibility.

SASTS? cooperator in the USA, Resort Staff International, is a small New England company based in the Green Mountains of Vermont. All SASTS staff members are experienced travellers and most have gained years of resort experience abroad.

The package was created based upon what we would want and what we know you will need in order to be successful. If you travel with us, you will know which resort you are going to, what job you will be doing and what your accommodation will be like before you leave South Africa. We are committed to providing the most equitable and service-oriented work experience package on the market.

Still sceptical? ? read about the experience of a traveller who participated in the ski resort work 'n travel programme and had the time of his life!

Story by a traveller

If you?re thinking about going abroad on the Ski USA programme, great choice! I was a first-timer last year and had an absolutely fabulous time. I made some great friends, shared some awesome experiences and well, the money wasn?t that bad either!

SASTS Working Adventures placed me at a small resort in Woodstock, Vermont. It was a quaint little town with hyper-friendly people, great Brazilian women and plenty of snow. All the ingredients for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure! I worked as a room service waiter and while the hours were pretty long, the job certainly had its perks. I could drink as much coke as I wanted ? what more does a man need?

After the Christmas rush, I had plenty of time to go snowboarding. Now South Africans don?t go pretty well with snow, but believe me, rolling down an icy hill is a lot more fun than it sounds. After a while, you certainly get the hang of it, and then there?s no turning back ? you?ve become an addict!

But sitting here now and reminiscing; it?s definitely the people that I miss the most. I probably won?t see any of them again but I am really glad I had the opportunity to spend one unbelievable vac in great company. Sorry, I?m getting all mushy ? well you?ll feel the same way? Just go and see!
