The International Student ID Card (ISIC) is the only internationally accepted proof of full-time student status and the card is officially endorsed by UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.
More than 35 million students have enjoyed the benefits of card membership since its launch in 1968, and annual membership is now in excess of 4 million young people from 100 countries around the world.
More than 20 000 students in South Africa currently carry the ISIC, and this number is now set to increase dramatically with exciting new benefits, more distribution points and the recently confirmed endorsement of the Minister of Education, Prof. Kader Asmal.
ISIC holders are eligible for significant reductions on flights, locally & internationally
and receive discounts on outdoor activities, at shops, restaurants, museums, theatres, galleries and more.
Amongst the major discount providers who now support the ISIC in South Africa are Intercape Mainliner, Ratanga Junction, Hard Rock Café and Photoquick. Internationally, ISIC discount partners include powerful brands such as McDonalds, Kodak, Pizza Hut, KFC, Timberland, Lonely Planet Books together with national chains of cinemas, youth hostels, hair salons, driving schools and more.
Check out the ISIC South Africa web site for up to date information on discounts and where to find your nearest ISIC Issuing Office.
