The iconic Mount Nelson Hotel in the centre of the Mother City has re-opened its Oasis wing with thirty completely refurbished and renovated rooms. Done up in fresh and bright colour schemes, the new rooms have a spectacular location alongside the swimming pool and overlooking the hotel’s gardens, with the backdrop of Signal Hill and Table Bay.

The three different colour schemes include shades of blue with a splash of yellow; tones of red and cream; and fresh lime green. The curtains are exquisitely embroidered and the light wood furniture is made locally by Moorgas and Sons. Overall the impression is modern, but with a timeless classic feel.

Original, innovative and eye-catching artwork from the neighbouring Michaelis School of Fine Art makes a distinct impression. They depict the diverse and colourful heritage of Cape Town, from its first indigenous Khoi inhabitants, to the times of the Dutch East India Company rule, through to colonial governments and the oppressive years of apartheid, to the recent years of democracy and the Rainbow Nation.

The Oasis wing brings a refreshingly light and happy feel to the much-loved and timeless “Nellie”.
