With the success of its safari-style tents, Summerfields Rose Retreat has opened two new accommodation options on the lush property near Hazyview, Mpumalanga.

The Stone House is ideal for the smaller group or family traveler with three rooms sleeping six (children of all ages are accepted) and is an organic rendition of earthy tones and materials, enjoying beautiful views of the surrounding wilds.

Set on a plateau with breathtaking 360-degree views, the ultra-luxurious new Summerfields Villa is for those seeking exclusivity and absolute privacy. Accommodating a maximum of six in three rooms, guests will have at their disposal a butler and chef, as well as a dedicated vehicle and driver while facilities include a private pool, gym and a personal therapist. (Children over the age of 16 are welcome.)

Summerfields’ luxuriously-appointed safari-style tents, on the other hand, are positioned beneath the soulful reverence of jackalberry and tambotie trees, with bathrooms open to the cascading sounds of the river. All feature dedicated butler service. Inside the tents, aircon deals with the sultry Lowveld heat while high percale cotton sheets and bed-side ipods lend contemporary comfort.

Slightly down-stream, reached by raised board-walks, the Spa Pavilions present indulgent and healing treatments.

Other new developments at Summerfields include the new River Café which presents itself as a glorious new Lowveld culinary space.

In idyllic surroundings, set on the banks of the Sabie River with hippos often in sight, The River Café is open for breakfast and light lunches for all visitors, and for intimate candle-light dinners with set menu for lodge and reserved visiting guests.

Renowned for its country-chic cuisine, the original Summerfields Kitchen at the estate entrance is open from 2pm-10pm for high teas, drinks and dinner, Tuesday-Friday, and breakfast, lunch & dinner on Saturdays and public holidays, and breakfast & lunch on Sundays. Summerfields is also a member of the Lowveld Gourmet Route.
