Booking site Accommodation Direct has released their latest travel stats, naming the most expensive places to stay in South Africa.
What might not surprise you is that the majority of these most expensive destinations are in Cape Town and the Western Cape. The list was created looking at the most expensive listing in each area.
Topping the list of 20 most expensive destinations is Clifton, in Cape Town.
Considering that Clifton is referred to as "the playground of the rich", an "exclusive residential area" and "the home of some of the most expensive real estate in South Africa" by various websites, one can understand why it is expensive to stay there for a vacation - but just how expensive may drop your jaw.
According to Accommodation Direct, the most expensive listing in Clifton is R28 513 per night. We'll let that sink in…
In second place is Cape Town - with the most expensive listing costing R22 775 per night.
Other expensive locations in the Mother City include Camps Bay, Bantry Bay, Higgovale, Simons Town and Table View.
